Planetary imaging.

Hi.

I wish to image the Planets,but not with a webcam.

I want to use a mono ccd camera,equipped with RGB Filters.Also using software such as Astro-Art and Nebulosity.

Has anyone tried this,or know of any Tutorial on this method.

I would need exposure tables,stacking and aligning methods.Anything that could help.

P.S.The camera i have is an old MX716.

Obviously this set-up and camera does not have a fast frame rate.

Just really want to know if this idea and eqipment will work on the planets.

yes, it will work.

You'll need to collect a few images to "practise" with and get the relative exposures through the RGB filters balanced.

AstroArt can do the rest.

It will be very very poor as MX716 has an interlaced CCD. And second it doesn't has fast framerates.

If you want to do planetary images - get a planetary camera

Not sure what to do.Cant afford a new camera,may have to stick with my old Toucam.

There are newer webcams too - like the MS Lifecams. They do have some advantages over the old webcams
