Alanmads
hi there. Any suggestions as to where i can buy a super cheap red torch please? Keep finding 'super bright ones' but im guessing that would not be a good idea. ThanksALan
crashtestdummy
i purchased an energizer head torch from argos for £15 and that has red light mode and also a cycle rear red led light for £6 from tesco.have attached this to my scope base as a finder beacon and also so people dont walk into my scope if im out and about.you could buy a high power yorch and get some red fablon and cover the lense with it to make a lower powered red light
paul schofield
Astro boot, Scopes n skies, Pulsar Optical, I made my own with a normal 4 cel torch and I just coloured the glass top with an indelible red permanent marker pen, x3 coats and it does the job great. slowhand
I got front and rear clip on cycle lamps from Asda a few weeks ago for £3. At the same time I bought the mrs some quality street for purely selfish reasons as I expected the rear light to be too bright. Yes, you've guessed it, the strawberry cream wrappers are perfect to stuff behind lens. Mrs was happy too (it's the first time she's taken an interest in astronomy). Cypher
I used a Maglight I already had and did as slowhand mentioned and wrapped some red cellophane off a sweet wrapper over the glass. It worked a treat.
