bog standard digital camera?

Recommended Posts

Is there any way to use my 12MP digital camera for taking shots of the moon (for starters)? I (wrongly!) assumed that pointing my digital camera at the eye piece would work, but all I get is a small circle of light in the camera screen no matter how much I use the optical zoom and can't get it to focus.

The weird thing is, my mobile phone works great with pointing it at the eye piece.

Is there anything I can do to use my digital camera with my Heritage 130P?

Oh, I also have an HD webcam which I've yet to try bolting on, but I can't see it giving as detailed a picture as the camera.

Any help would be much appreciated by this astro-n00b :D

What is your camera ? It sounds like your objective lens is very large, and you're trying to image a small circle of light at the ep. I had that with my Z2. The phone has a very small objective, so you don't get the vignetting.
