Is the SW 250 Dob much better than the 200 Dob?

Recommended Posts

Hi

Depends on what you wish to observe with your scope.

For planetary observing there is not a great deal in it.

Deep sky the 10" will get deeper into the sky showing fainter objects and revealing more detail in objects that are visible.

For deep sky I personally would spend the extra every time.

If my interest was the planets, no i would get the 8"

Regards Steve.

The 250 collects 56% more light than the 200. This will make a noticeable difference when viewing deep sky objects, a smaller difference when viewing the moon and planets though.

Whether that extra performance is worth the extra £'s is a question that only you can answer I guess. Both are very good scopes though.
