Jupiter this morning (06/06/07) - advice needed

I took this yesterday which is stacked from 2000 frames at 5fps, which mean I was recording AVI for 5-6mins.

My question is: how long can I be recording AVI so that the final image is not blurred as a result of Jupiter rotation?

Personally i always go for 3 mins @ 10fps,For 5 fps it will have to be very good conditions indeed.

I was recommended to go for 5fps or in worst case for 10fps. So why it is better to use 10fps when the visibility is not great? Or is it simply because you got greater chance to capture something with more detail in less time?

Yup something like that :)

I might be wrong but i seem to remember being told that 3 mins was about the time you could image Jupiter (or maybe Saturn :?) without the rotation of the planet causing problems with blurring.

Image scale (resolution per pixel) is 206 * pixel size/(f#*aperture)

pixel size for a Toucam is 5.6

Time = drift limit/((Pi*planet diameter)/ rotation period)

Planet diameter and drift limit are in arc/ secs

rotation period and time are in seconds

That might explain why that image is so blurred. I did not really think about rotation before. If it rotates approximately in 9 hours time so it must have moved a great deal in 6 minutes I was recording avi sequence.
