M33 - forgotten data

Recommended Posts

I can't believe it - I was just having a sort out and stumbled across the data for M33 that I took in December 2011 and never processed for some reason. So I thought I might as well process it. Unfortuantely I don't have perfectly matched flats but I've used the ones I've got now to remove the vignetting. All in all I'm not to unhappy with it even though it was only 3 minute subs (15 of them at ISO 800) - so only 3/4 hour of data in all.

This is definately galaxy I want to return to now I've modded the camera and have the coma corrector - that will have to wait until later this year when it's more favourably positioned for me.

Hi Sparrow.

I love this object, and its very well known that this a difficult target, due to its low surface brightness. The image is exerllent, and full of detail, and i especially like the way you,ve pulled out the bright H11 regions.

Very nice.

Mick.

Thanks Mick - yes the modded camera helps to pick up the Ha star forming regions.

I've remembered now why I never processed this before. I wasn't that impressed with the subs as conditions weren't that great on that particular night. Hopefully with better conditions in the Autumn I'll improve on this, but for the moment, other targets beckon me.

Regards

John
