finding north inside a house with no north view

Recommended Posts

is there any way this can be done ?

i have an east, south and west facing window at home that i usually observe from.

not having had a motor drive meant that i could "get away with" using magnetic north as a guide, but now that i have got myself a motor drive i'd like to do a bit of imaging (long exp).

any helpful suggestions gratefully received !

hi there , you could use a compass ...... lol

but seriously, are you really considering doing long exposure astrophotography from inside your house .....

i wonder why nobody else does that ?

i wonder why we spend long hours in the cold outside when we could be inside with our scopes pointing through the window ?

astronomy is one of these hobbys where a modicum of brains and common scense will get you a long way .

this must be a wind up lol good one lol

Kind of makes sense actually! We could even do away with these stupid red head torches and turn the lights on :D:) :)

lol ! :D

no wind up. it's the best i can do at the moment. any chance i get to go out into the wilds (usually with a group of other "nutters"!) i grab with both hands! but work patterns don't always make it possible.

I guess out of the window is better than not at all!! And I sympathise about work patterns.

Glad you get your scope out into the wilds on some occasions though!
