2" 1 1/4" advantage/disadvantage??

seeing as i can use my eyepiece in either mode the question is.....are there any advantages to one or the othier??

The 2" are only in wide format bigger than 26mm i think....so a good one will give good views, i would think better than a 1.25...

thanks for input tinker, im using a baader mk111 hyperion zoom

8:24 on a skywtcher 200,and apparently can be used either way hence why i asked lol just havent had chance to try it yet as awaiting arrival of collimator.

The Baader zoom is a 1.25" eyepiece that has the option of a 2" barrel for convenience but this does not make it a 2" eyepiece.

The advantage of 2" eyepieces is that they allow much wider fields of view than 1.25" ones and this is whey they are normally found in the longer focal lengths, eg 20mm - 40mm.

i appreciate what you say and understand the sizes,its just that it fits more snugly in the 2" apperture and wondered if it made any differance which way i mounted it??

Some of my ep's are 1.25" & 2" they're always better held in the 2" the weight is supported better.

You have a 1.25" eyepiece holder with a 2" adaptor.

This is so you can pick any eyepiece without worry of it fitting or not but your scope is designed for 1.25".

As John said, use the 2" to your advantage and get a nice wide field eyepiece (35mm will be epic) for it and stick to 1.25" eyepieces for closer views.

thanks for the input ken, will bare that in mind,when finances allow already spent double what scope cost....which i now find out is normal !!
