TAL vs. Meade 2x Barlow + zoom

Hello,

I finally got my scope - Skywatcher 150/1200 DOB - and I'm very happy with it (although not so much with the weather in the last days).

I decided to replace the two eyepieces that came with it with a zoom - meade 4000 8-24mm. Now I'm thinking about buying a 2x barlow lens. I do not expect that the combination will be useful at the highest power but I do suppose that the barlow will extend the range of the whole setup, so:

1. Does combination barlow + zoom work?

2. Have you comparison between Meade #128 shorty barlow and TAL barlow?

I've read the praise on TAL in this forum but I'd still like to know if somebody can compare these two or suggest an alternative for a similar price.

I've owned both the barlows you mention and the TAL is optically a better barlow. I feel the TAL is the best barlow in it's price niche.

I've not tried to barlow a zoom lens with them though.

Hi,

I have a Mk-III Baader Hyperion 8-24mm Clickstop Zoom and tal 2x barlow.

And they work exellent together. such a good barlow

so cant see why now!
