Skywatcher LP filter, any UV/IR Cut propertys?

As the tital says really, i just picked up both a 1.25" and 2" skywatcher light polution filters bundled in with some eyepeices on ebay.

I have a SPC880 flashed webcam but never got round to picking up a UV/IR cut filter for it!. im just wondering if the 1.25" skywatcher filter has any of these propertys at all? im guessing not as it isnt stated but thought id just ask before i buy one.

If not, how important are they? as the skywatcher LP filter would still be good for protecting the chip.

It doesn't have good enough IR cut properties (someone did some spectrum charts for me once.) You do need an IR cut to avoid star bloat.

However it will "protect" the chip fine

Do you know if the "star bloat" issue is a problem if it is only used for attempting to image jupiter,saturn and the moon?.

I didn't do enough with the Philips to give you a straight answer I'm afraid.

I suspect you might get some interesting effects without the IR cut, but someone who actually knows should confirm / deny
