Minimum mount for a 180mak

i want to do some early evening Venus and moon imaging but my Observatory does not have that part of the sky visible so i need another mount.

What would be the bare minimum mount needed to do this?

Would I squeeze it on to a EQ5?

The 180 Mak is no lightweight, it is a bit of a challenge for the EQ5, especially for imaging. At least in my opinion.

I used to have one of these scopes it is the very reason I upgraded from a EQ5 to a HEQ5 the EQ5 was not good for visual so for imaging I would say at least a HEQ5.

you could try the CGs, they can carry a tad more than the EQ5, they are easy to shift about too, not too heavy

I spent most of the summer happily using a Mak 180 on an EQ5 visually and it coped easily - for planetary imaging I think you'd get away with it, possibly not for any DSO imaging though.
