I took this photo last night. Looks like two clouds of Milky way, but separate from the Milky way. They're very large and vivid. This is field of view taken at 35mm, so it's a big area of sky.

Hi Buster, these objects are known as the LMC and SMC (large,small magellanic clouds). They look great there. I havent seen many images of them here. I guess we dont have many southern hemi members.

Ah yes I have just googled them "The two Magellanic Clouds are irregular dwarf galaxies visible in the southern hemisphere, which are members of our Local Group and are orbiting our Milky Way galaxy."

Wow. I've heard of them, but I had no idea they were so massive and bright. They dominate the sky down here. Much much larger than say the Moon.

Oh and I'm just visiting down here. Otherwise I'm sure I would have noticed them a long time ago.

Thats an interesting thought. I bet it looks amazing!

Lots of good looking things in those to image, i really like the tarantula nebula in the LMC.

Interesting to see an old image like that. I'm curious, is it still possible to see remnants of the 1987 supernova shown in that image? Is it somewhere in my shot?

Buster i had a quick play around with your image to enhance it (a bit). Maybe someone can spot what you are asking about:

P.S.~~~im not sure if my tinkering has improved your image or not. I just played with it because i had a feeling there was more detail in it then is showing. I bet the LMC's really are a sight to behold down there in the southern hemi.

Wow you really brought them out! Can I ask how you processed it?

I just tweaked things a bit in Adobe Photo Deluxe. Mostly just "auto" repair functions. I did play with saturation and contrast,brightness etc.

So I borrowed your picture and PS'd a bit more to show what you can do with some simple tweaking. Took me 5 mins to do this and I'm by no means a pro at PS. Its not much but I think it helps. I found some short videos online that shows some trick the pros use on PS.
