Thinking of Selling the Nexstar 8SE For Celestron C8 NG-T

and CG-5GT Computerised EQ GOTO mount.

Celestron C8 N-GT

Both are 8" aperture. The C8 is 25 pounds heavier I believe. But its more suitable for photograhy of DSO obviously, which is what I want.

Any thoughts or pitfalls? Or any other scopes/mounts in the 8" range?

well i think that would be a sideways move , ... have you thought about just getting an eq mount and using the 8" scope you alreadt have ..they have very good optics and would be grreat on the planets and moon , plus a focal reducer would help with dso photos ...??

Never thought of taking the telescope off the mount. That does sound a good idea to me.

Do you think the SCT is a better performer than the Newt?

All telescope types have pros and cons, i consider fast reflectors as great general use telescopes and great value for money.

Have you considered the C10?
