Terrible shame if something has gone wrong, here's hoping it's just instrumentation. Doesn't sound promising.

Now if ever we needed a case for a manned space program - if they've just separated and the engine hasn't fired then from a robotics standpoint it's just another piece of space junk. But if we could get a good pair of hands up there it wouldn't need to be the end of the line.
