Connecting SW 80ED to DSLR

I am using my Orion (same as a Skywatcher) 80ED for imaging with an Canon 1000D hanging off the back. The problem is that it is literally hanging off the back! To get it to reach focus I have to use a 2" extension tube. This adds another two point of flexure and another place where the 'film' plane of the camera and the scope can stop being orthognal.

It strikes me that one solution would be to have an adaptor that screwed straight on to the 56mm thread on the end of focus tube at one end and had a T thread at the other end. That way I could use screw-in T thread extension tubes to get the correct focus distance and hence avoid all those nasty 2" push in joints. Does anyone know if anyone sells these?

That's exactly how the SW flattener/reducer fits on! Maybe they are hinting at something!!
