Jupiter (Photoshop colourised): Oct 15th, 2011

A sketch I did back in the early morning (12.20am) of October 15th 2011, showing moon 'Io' emerging from behind Jupiter.

I was around my 'observing buddies' house, but took the TSA along also. At the last minute I picked up some A4 laser paper and a mechanical pencil with some HB lead in it - so not the best sketching tools . Used a 2" eyepiece cap to draw a circle for reference and off I went!!!

I decided to scan it into Photoshop first so that I could colourise it, add the moons (having checked my drawing against Stellarium) and a bit of a glow/glare around Jupiter also.

Thats a great observation and sketch and a good catch with the Moon.

Very nice! I love how you show the glare of the planet, and the moon with a curved part of the moon still hidden behind Jupiter...that's some observing skills there, which I wish I had! In fact it looks as if it was through my eyepiece i n my 10" Dob, and I love it!
