EQMOD and stellarium

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

As the weather is well pants here in shooters hill Im star hopping in my livingroom, going from my park position Im slewing to capella

no worries, but its off a wee bit looking at stellarium.

My question is once I,ve centred capella and repeated this on

2 more stars then returned to park would this bring things into line

if I repeated my first step on capella.

Hopefully I,ve made sense BigBlueOne

Hi Big Blue

Yes basicly to the best of my limited knowledge when you put in your lat and lon into stellarium and polar align you have given the database a "rough" idea of where to point. Once you do alignment on actual targets ( the more stars the better. In some cases I input 12 sync points before observing) you are modifying the inbuilt database which makes slewing to your next target more accurate. If you are oserving for an hour or so say in a Westerly direction and then want to observe someting in the East it is a good idea to do more Syncs (alignments ) on stars in that quadrant.

Hope this makes sense.

Neil

Update to problem,

Of course there was no problem at all it was down to human

cockup a very large cockup.

What this twonk had not done was to sync in stellarium after

unparking in eqmod, then slew away to your hearts content.

Hopefully this may help someone in the future.

Thankyou BigBlueOne.
