DSLR Preview zoom?

Recommended Posts

Looking at the "best DSLR" thread just now, there was a link to Covington's site where I had a browse. It mentioned that the 300D Canon can zoom the preview to 10X full size. This would allow individual pixels to be looked at, which is far more zoom than I can get with my Nikon D50. Anybody care to tell me if this is the case?

I don't know about the 300D, CC. The 350D certainly has a zoom in facility that easily magnifies the image by x10 (it might even be a bit more - I haven't measured it). I frequently use this facility to check my focus when doing Astro work. However, the LCD screen on the camera is small (1.8") and poor, so the advantage of doing this is somewhat offset. Still, better than nothing - used in conjunction with a Hartman mask (for prime focus) reasonable images can be achieved.
