Light pollution filter

Recommended Posts

I am currently looking at buying my first light pollution filter for my light-medium polluted area. I understand the light pollution filters are somewhat over rated and that they produce a false colour in objects.

I am referring to the more general UHC's etc, not the more specialised 03's.

Any thoughts?

I use the Baader UHC-S and find it very effective, even in relatively small scopes. I tried an Orion Skyglow filter for a while and found it made hardly any difference.

I use an Astronomik CLS-Filter. It is effective in reducing light pollution - but everything looks bluish :D.

A friend in the Astro Soc of Glasgow uses a Hutech light pollution filter - it is designed for imaging and does not change the image colour - expensive though. You can buy it from SCS Astro.
