help taking pictures of orionids

hi iam hopeing weather permiting to take some photos of meteors on saturday morning i have a canon 350d and a 18mm-55mm lens and want to know what setting i need to use, i have a wireless remote for it as well and a tripod any help please

This will apply to any meteor shower.

The wider the lens the more chance of capturing something, so the 18-55mm I would use at 18mm. Also make sure the aperture is set wide open. On this lens the aperture at 18mm should be about f3.5?

Make sure to manually focus on infinity. Set white balance to tungsten. Use something like ISO 400-600.

Aim camera at the sky, but make sure to include a ground object such as a tree for instance, to give scale.

Keep firing the shutter away on bulb setting between 5-10 sec for instance. Pot luck if you get any, but your chances will be increased this way.
