Unable to update Syncan AZ handset

I am trying to upgrade the firmware on my Synscan AZ hand controller for the first time.

I have followed all the instructions on upgrading.

1) Downloaded the Synscan firmware loader v3.0 from the AZ section from the Skywatcher download area.

2) Downloaded the synscan drivers (SynScanV0307AZ.ssf) into the same folder.

3) Connected the handset to the PC.

4) Hold down 0 and 8 on the handset and plug in Power cable. The handset lights up with Synscan Update ver. 1.7

5) Launch the loader, browse to the SynScanV0307AZ.ssf and then click update and then I get the error to say:

"Can not connect to a Synscan hand control."

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Make sure the Auto Detect com port button is selected in the firmware updater program and also check that any USB/serial adapter if used is recognised by the device manager.

Thanks for the advice. Checked in device manager and it was showing as not recognised. Downloaded and installed the drivers and ran through it again and it worked a treat.
