Piggyback M31

Just got back from a week in North Wales and some great dark skies. Took my old battery powered Celestron CG-4 mount and scope in the car (no room for the big stuff!) with the intention of grabbing a half decent piggyback shot of M31.

60x90 sec lights (zoom lens 200mm @ f/5 on un-modded Canon 500d), 30xdarks, 27xflats, 27xdark flats stacked in DSS and tweaked in PSE.

Just wish i had a faster lens for the camera. Still my best attempt at M31 so far.

That's just the sort of rig M31 was made for! It's pretty rare to see that hulking great galaxy with some black around it, and it looks great bedded in amongst all those stars. Thanks for sharing it, SJJ.
