Collimation

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have recently purchased a Sky-Watcher Explorer-300PDS.

I set it up on a NEQ6 mount and laser collimated the scope. Stars looked fine through the scope, but when I connected the Atik Titan there was no image.

Thinking the problem was the camera, I took it with me to Kelling. With help from the Atik Stand we had the camera working with my Lunt.

Getting back home I tried the camera with the 300 again, no image.

Re-collimated the scope, still no image.

Decided to set the scope horizontal and collimate, rotate scope 180deg check collimation again and it is way out.

The scope must be sagging under its own weight. Because the Titan chip is small the image is missing the chip.

Any suggestions as to how to stop the scope sagging?

Nigel
