Webcam / Digital Camera Help Please

This may sound like a very stupid question, but i am unsure how a webcam can get the pictures seen in posts etc. What i mean by this is do you set your telescope up how you normally would to for example view Jupiter with a 2x Barlow and EP and then simply attach the webcam to the EP and zoom with the camera to take the footage?

I supose what i am trying to say is how does it always look much more "zoomed in" then a normal EP. Also i have a decent digital camera that also takes HD video, could i use this to take images (or rather video) in the same princple as a webcam and stack them later?

Sorry for the silly questions but i honestly dont know much about this side of things.

It all comes down to focal length and the plate scale of the image.

The eyepiece and or barlow are not necessary. Just the webcam with a suitable nosepiece placed into the focuser.
