Eqmod Help

Recommended Posts

I have installed and am trying to run EQMOD, but it throws up an error

---------------------------

EQMODLX

---------------------------

Component 'MSWINSCK.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid

---------------------------

OK

---------------------------

I'm on an Alienware MX17 laptop, running Windows 7. Anyone have any idea how I can fix this?

Thanks for all the help everyone! I've finally found a fix!

After following the steps on the helpdesk site, I got another error -

DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x8002801c

I searched this up, and found that if you run cmd.exe, and type regsvr32 C:\Windows\SysWOW64\MSWINSCK.OCX it will successfully register. Again, thanks for the help, much appreciated!

I have just had the same problem. But still has errors after entering - regsvr32 C:\Windows\SysWOW64\MSWINSCK.OCX in the cmd.exe prog.

In order do this successfully you need to run cmd.exe as an administrator. Right click on cmd.exe and select "Run as administator"

I had the same problems after installing EQMODLX v1.08 and got the following response from Chris on the Yahoo EQMOD group:

That's odd - MSWINSCK.OCX is a microsoft activex control that used to come as

part of the operating system itself but that microsoft later decided to drop.

The EQMODLX installer is supposed to install and register a copy of MSWINSCK.OCX

but there is also a copy in our files section you can use.

Download and install it in your system32 directory and the register it with

windows by opening a command prompt in that directory and typing

regsvr32 mswinsck.ocx

Chris

I had to run cmd as administrator ( right click on it and pick run as administrator from the menu) in order to register the component.
