M31 WIP

I have been tinkering this a fair bit and this is where I am.

I only have 22 300s subs at present so im looking forward to having more data to play with.

This is using my F6 100ED with a Sky-Watcher Flattener, 2" CLS LPF with my QHY8L Guided with a QHY6 in PHD

I feel that this is more than a touch over-processed for the data I currently have but it is getting there.

Just need more clear nights.

By the time I hope to finish this project Orion will be waving at me in the night sky

Some great colour in the image, especially for only 22x300s. As you say, it needs some more data to reduce the noise levels a bit, anf some star size reduction, and you`ll have the basis of great M31...

Cheers Steve I had not considered star size reduction, I will look into that when I do the final image.

Looking good, colour looks spot on. I think you could even make this data look better by not going for such a black background, it looks unnatural and is likely to have clipped some data from the image.

Agreed, something ill look at when I get some more subs.

Superb job... keep it up and you'll have a Gem of an image... its not now..

Was always a good scope that, funny I'm back with a Megrez 110 f/5.95 which is practically the same thing..

It's a personal thing but I do like the inky black background in this image. It isolates the galaxy nicely.
