g0ibi
May seem a strange question but:If I leave the tripod legs up (short) I can see my target stars etc ok without needing steps etc but I cannot get low enough to polar align!! If I extend the legs fully, I can polar align ok but need steps to see some of my targets! What do you do??
Merlin66
I keep the legs as short as possible and lie on the ground to polar align - but just do it once! When the tripod is aligned, mark the position of the feet on the ground and next time out just position the feet on the marks. This is generally close enough to get you going.HTH
glowjet
If you like your tripod at low level and this suits you for most targets, then have a go at drift aligning the mount
