Attachning canon dslr to ST80, what do I need?

I'm not 100% sure on this as I attach an QHY5 to my ST80 but have to use a barlow without the lens (basically a homemade extension tube) to get focus. I assume that it would be the same situation for connecting a DSLR?

I'm not sure that will help.

Does the end of your focuser unscrew to reveal a t-thread? If so, the worst case would be to get a t-thread extension. However the skywatcher blurb says you can connect a DSLR directly and come to focus!

Cheers

The position of the DSLR sensor is much further back than the sensor in a CCD . Using a CCD camera you do need an extension ring around 20-25mm long. I would expect the extra distance of the DSLR sensor and a t-mount adaptor would remove the need for an extension tube
