the best starter scope for £150

Well you can't go wrong with one of these at your budget point:

Or better still for a small extrra amount:

First Light Optics - Skywatcher Skyliner 150P Dobsonian

The larger aperture will show you more. Hope that helps

150p dob looks pretty good might have to sell a few items for that many thanks

Are there not a fair few second hand scopes that would give you better mount and or more aperture ? Also if you buy second hand I am guessing you would lose less on resale and you may even have a couple of EPs you get to keep?

Not something I know a lot about but woulda thought through upgrades there may be a lotta choice around?

Ive been searching fleabay however you have to be careful even more so if its a reflector however buying secondhand can jump you up the ladder quicker in terms of a better scope for less money than a new one .

now that might be for me ? decent looking little refractor ...mind you bang for bucks its a dob coz of light gain ....but a refractor is less trouble free ...ie mirrors

I would second the Evostar 90, but do avoid the eq2 as it's a bit flimsy. Otherwise a lovely scope for a beginner like me, even to the extent that I'm trying to avoid selling it to assist my future dob purchase!
