Worthy of consideration?

Not sure if I may have seen this on the forum a while back but thought it worth posting anyway.

Orion 16mm GiantView 100-degree Ultra-Wide Eyepiece - SCS Astro

maybe an alternative to Pentax and Televue in the low/mid eyepiece range, looks a sturdy bit of kit.

These look identical to the Zhumell 100 degree eyepieces sold in the USA. I found this report on the "Cloudynights" forum comparing one of these to a Tele Vue Ethos 17mm:

Of course the Ethos costs a lot more.

Well I suppose even for £359 its still quite cheap compared to an Ethos.

Have these been out that long? Am sure I may have seen it posted here before.

Alan at "Skies the Limit" even does clones of these (unbranded) for £199 !:

But don't ask me if the spec is the same as the Orion one !.

Edit: I've just noticed that the Orion version claims 6 lens elements wheras the unbranded one states 8 elements. Maybe not the same then .......

I would hold on the assumption that I have seen it before John.

Not something I would contemplate purchasing, would go for a Nagler instead, no surprise to you I guess.

Unfortunately, Orion (USA) products seem to be relatively expensive in the UK. It's a shame because their range contains some very interesting scopes and other equipment

When you are looking at spending £300+ on an eyepiece I think that Tele Vue or Pentax are going to be higher up the shopping list than Orion though, regardless of the 100 degree "factor"
