Cave to Wizard via Bubble

Im kinda new to astrophotography. Why is the image black/white?

Martin is using a Ha filter on a mono camera. Ha is narrow band and one of the 3 normal filters for narrow band you would use to create a colour image.

Same with all mono CCD cameras, you take red, green and blue, each in mono and combine them to produce a colour image.

Ha Hydrogen Alpha, OII, Oxygen and SIII Sulphur (i think) are the normal narrowband filters used.

You can get colour CCD cameras that do all three filters at once, but they tend not to be as sensitive or flexible.

Hope that helps
