differences between 127 mak and 200 newt

Recommended Posts

looks liek im getting hold of a 127 mak shortly and was just wondering if there are any major or minor differences between the two types, other than aperture and size of ota?

will the mak be better for planets and imaging them?

The 127 MAK despite it's size performs outstandingly on planetary imaging and it's no slouch visually either giving crisp sharp stars across the entire FOV. While it's no comparison to the light grasp power of the 200P it complements the larger scope well. I'm sure you will be more than happy with the MAK.

You will need to consider some form of dew prevention for the mak - either a heated dew band or a dew shield - dew can really spoil an observing session and the corrector lens at the top of the tube attracts it like a magnet !.
