How to catch a falling star ?

Hi everyone I am new over here, but a star gazer from childhood. I have seen many star's falling some far away some very close. Does anyone know the best practice or technique to hunt a fallen rock of space.

Stars falling? I think you mean meteorites (small bits of rock).

I have no idea how you would attempt to 'catch' one. I guess you'd wait for it to hit Earth, then go to where you thought it may have landed and have a look?

However most meteorites are so small that they burn up in the atmosphere, and never reach Earth.

A stick. A very strong magnet specifically for meteorites & watch Meteoriteman! You might be better off going to the poles & having a look ;-)

The deserts and Antartica are the best place to look for meteorites. The UK's climate is unkind to meteorites so the few that do make it to the ground don't last for long.

Almost all burn up in the atmosphere and never reach the ground. That is most likely the case with the ones you saw.

I heard that Australia has the highest incidence of meteorites that reach Earth. You could start there I guess lol.

But nearly all of them are dust particles melted off comets as they go past the sun, and they burn up in the atmosphere as soon as they reach it.
