Cheap guide scope? any good?

Recommended Posts

Scopes n skies have a number of 60mm/700mm FL refractors on at £20-£25.

Would these be any good as guide scopes?

I would likely need to buy the rings to mount too, but if the OTA is acceptable, it would still be a cheap buy.

TBH, I'm rethinking this.

by the time I have bought the scope & mounting rings (comes to £40ish), and then chopped the scope down (with all the potential for my ham-fistedness to destroy it), I might be as well getting an skywatcher ST80, which is about £115, but comes with an EQ1 mount so I can use it as a grab & go too.

Think I'll wait and see if a 2nd hand one crops up. no point in rushing.....
