Do I still need to polar align eq6 pro with syncscan gps?

For visual use it's really not hard. Find out what's your latitude and set your scope's elevation to that figure (NOT the Ra/Dec controls). Point it north accurately enough and you should see Polaris through the polar finder on your mount. If you don't intend to do astrophotography this should be good enough.
