Combining old & new(ish) material, M31 & The Horsehead Nebula

Hi guys!

Finally the we move towards darker times, but it'll be 2 more months until my skies are dark enough for imaging, so I played some with old photos, combining images with different cameras & different scopes, coming from my 1st & 2nd year of imaging... All combining / merging done in photoshop cs3

Combining dslr/osc with mono narrowband was really fun, especially since my dslr is unmodded. Now I want an osc too, doh!

Starting off with M31, my 3rd DSO ever, shot with a canon 100-400L zoom lens at 400mm unguided, & my unmodded canon 50D dslr...

3*5min @ ISO1600

+

merging it with a shot 1 year later, using my 190MN autoguided & the canon 50D

17*5min @ISO1600

The result is below:

Next up is my first guided image, the horsehead nebula, using the 190MN & my unmodded canon 50D

6*4 min @ ISO1600

+

a single unguided H-alpha testsub using my FSQ-106 & QSI 583wsg

1*10min Halpha, binned 4x4, no darks. What a differance!

Quite some differance:

Thanks alot for watching & I hope this serves as inspiration for all of you to dig up some old stuff & present it in new light!

Best Regards

Jonas

Yeah I agree! Just shows how you have come on leaps and bounds since you started :hello2:

Thanks alot guys!

Maybe the formula of combining my 1st & 2nd year shows what I should be able to produce in my coming 3rd year? (1+2=3) :D

Glad you guys liked my stuff :hello2: I am also impressed with the stars in M31, I haven't been able to match that, jpg's, I didn't know how to process raw's at that time...
