HEQ5 crashing into itself

I have just had a crash situation caused by the clutch lever under the dovetail block hitting the casing because it was wrongly aligned. It's easy enough to sort out but at first I couldn't see where the crshing was happening.

Check yours if you're worried.

I have an HEQ5 too, so far i never had problems with it, except but one...sometimes the OTA hits the tripod, blocking the tracking...

I think a pier would be better for that matter...

Wonder if i could use the GP pier to put the HEQ5 head on, would the pier be strong enough?

The lever for the Dec. clutch, if it turns too much, hits the raised section of the main body of the mount. Either mine has some wear, or I tightened it more than usual, and it stopped the mount from slewing. A scary moment.
