How to polar align my HEQ-5 Mount???

Hi

I have a heq-5 mount and need help trying to polar align it?

What is polar aligning, and how do i do it?

Any help much appreciated.

I found the astobaby site here, just the best and easiest way to learn. I kept my HEQ5 in the box for about 8 months as I found it all to daunting. This site makes it really easy to learn. Just be methodical, that is the best bit of advice I could ever give to anyone.

Also go find Astro-Baby Astronomy Website, she wrote guides to polar alignment and used the HEQ5 as the mount.

Polar aligning is aligning the axis of rotation of the mount to the axis of rotation of the earth.

Do not use magnetic north.
