Comet 12P has put on a good show and another Halley-type comet is on its way! 13P Olbers is in Taurus and should be observable in binoculars throughout the summer months -  perihelion on 30th June with a magnitude of around 7. It's about 10th mag. now and up by the Pleiades, so reasonably placed in the evening.

  2. I had a view of Comet 12P in 8x42s this evening. It's coma is bright, almost stellar like with perhaps a hint of an elongation. Not the best of conditions though, but looking rather good. I also caught a nice pass of the ISS, very bright tonight even through the clouds!

    That galaxy 'smudge' image is about the closest depiction I've seen that represents how many DSO and diffuse comets appear visually in my small telescope!
