Ok what I do is design one on CAd and then 3D print it to the specs of the OTA pretty quick and easy 🙂🙂🙂 -

Take the eyepiece extension out (looks like a black tube in the focuser then try that 🙂 -
If I’m correct the Japanese smoothies were a pseudo- masuyama design they also did a more conventional 4 element from Japan which was also very nice and above average . The China and Taiwan versions (4 element) were ok but nothing special as far as I’ve read however having never tried any side by side I’m quoting others not personal experience 🙂

Yes inwill hopefully have a 40mm soon still looking for a 25 and a mid range something about 16mm I think ?? Good to know you rate them and I’m not going crazy in my old age

Hey buddy yes I totally agree the veil is better with an oiii I only have nebula filters in 2” format so after I found it and observed for a while I done the old over the eyepiece filter technique and saw it much clearer . Currently building a 90/1000 old scs Astro frac for measuring doubles bud looking forward to reading that article 🙂🙂🙂🔭🔭

Good afternoon after finding some messiers then some NGC’s and ending on a beautiful observation of the veil nebula I’m just wondering if anybody else uses the littte ST80 for some DSO’s if so how far did you go with it ? Sure I can go and hunt DSO’s with h my 8” but sometimes I like the challenge and quick setup / tear down of a small refractor
