Another thing that I thought SW had got wrong was the quality of their new-scope starter-kit.
They used to come with a full set of clouds, but yours seemed to have arrived with blue skies .Then I saw the 4cast for the weekend,,,, ha ! Well, summer was nice last week
My box came with a sticker saying may contain clouds 😂

150mm reflector - sub 200 pounds is amazing value, especially when you think how much 6 inch reflectors cost in the past.
The optics are pretty good from what I've experienced and read. @Lockie said the mirror itself must be £200

You'll nail the Ring nebula now you've got the finder aligned. There are two bright stars a short distance apart just below Vega, just aim bang centre with you 25mm eyepiece, centre the round smudge, then put the 10mm in to see it as an oval ring
Can't wait 🙂 also just getting using to everything being upside down lol.... and navigating

Excellent, as John says, your new RDF is what SW scope usually come with. They should have stuck with it with the Heritage 150p, it is a nicer RDF for sure.
So much better. Couldn't believe it was aligned up in 3mins after how long I spent trying aligning the old one. So pleased. Now to start enjoying the scope 🙂

OK. Just taken delivery of new RDF and it attached and lined up in about 3min! So it looks like the other one was faulty. Its perfect. Building in distant and in eye piece centred 👌😁
It is a different looking RDF and needs to be mounted further forward to stop it clipping the screw, but it works great and actually looks better. Better control and movement 😊
Thank you everyone for your help and advice. I know it's only a RDF but it has been so frustrating trying to view the sky...

Brilliant Chris. I will give it a go when replacement turns up. Need a repalcement as noticed the front screw doesn't actually tighten and just spins round and round now, so that won't help either. 🙂

Now, that's interesting Chris. If I put my RDF further back than shown in the pic, it hits that screw head that holds the extension rod in place - you can see how close they are in my first pic.
I presume you don't encounter that problem? I wonder if the RDF base in mine is in a very slightly different position from yours. The base is clearly an add-on, so if it is stick on by hand I wonder if it's not always done correctly, resulting in the base beiing misaligned - too misaligned for the RDF mount adjustment to cope with....
I have the same issue. my RDF hits the extension tube screw too

I would definitely definitely consider the updated version of this, the Starquest 130p. I have a review for this on my channel and it has some benefits over the old Explorer 130p EQ2.
You mean this one... https://www.firstlightoptics.com/beginner-telescopes/sky-watcher-starquest-130p-f5-parabolic-newtonian-reflector-telescope.html

It depends, , , what you mean by "good" ! The SW ads always tell how much more light gathering they do compared to the smaller model, never how much less than the bigger brother.
That's true the heritage 150p was 33% more light in than the 130p and I think the explorer is 30% more light than the 114 model

It might have a finder that can be pointed in the same direction as the scope too !
Exactly 😁 the reason I went for the heritage 150p was due to space and thought it would be perfect as a starter scope. The skywalker explorer maybe too big anyway for storing in our flat

The 130P mirror will be of the same quality as the 150P. It is the same mirror set that the Heritage 130P uses in fact.
Well that's good news 😉

Yes, that looks like a nice finder 🤣🤣
errr, we are still talking about the finder , , , , are we ? heheee.
Well we must dream big - even though this is smaller than than the heritage 150p and infact I think the mirror isn't as good

Ah ! You noticed !! I was a little, ummmm, uncertain if I should type that in the singular or plural
Another aspect : one faulty RDF is (Importance of) unfortunate two -Lockie as well- would be downright careless ! (/being Ernest)
The GREAT thing is once the replacement RDF finder arrives and I try it, FLO have said if it still doesn't align up, they will replace the whole scope. 👍

Thinking about it - if you paid £10,000 for a new car and the indicator light on the right side wasn't working, it would be pretty annoying. In the scheme of things its only aminor issue and to replace the bulb would be a few pounds in comparison to the whole card... but you need that indicator light for the card to work properly and be road worthy. In my mind its no different to a £200 telescope... if one bit isn't working, it will be frustrating to use 🙂 thats the best analogy I have lol
Help me decide please

Skywalker heritage 150p for £199 if you can stretch that much more. 33% more light than the 130p.
Other than a few glitches, FLO company sorted out amazingly, I'm loving it.
Pic of scope and a photo I took of the moon through it two nights ago 👍
