  1. I have an image from my webcam now, I was using it on my windows tablet and was seeming over exposed due to being in the day light, so I've switched to my laptop and altered the exposure and now have an image of fields around 10 miles away and the focus tube is only a little way out, its a bit blurred but it's there(could be to do with the heat haze and that it's low on the horizon) I have the webcam in an old barlow lens holder without the lens in it and pulls the camera out far enough, so when there are less cloudy skies I will try it in the moon and see how it fairs. Maybe the image will be sharper once its dark and able to get infinity. There is only a little window between going in and out of focus but I've read that could be to do with the webcam as they are like looking through a high power ep
  2. I will let you know how I get on, plenty of others seem to get it working ok, it could be just me but there's no real explanation online only mods of normal webcams
  3. Hi thank you for your reply, I will try again to get the webcam closer into the focus tube but will only go so far in before it won't be clamped by the thumb screws, I will try again with the camera as close as I can get it in, would attaching a barlow x2 help if I can't get it in far enough
  4. I still cannot achieve good focus by putting the webcam in as far as possible so the thumb screws tighten on it and using my barlow lens, the scope is collimated, so don't know what I'm doing wrong, as when I look through an ep I see the image fine.
  5. Hi mick I have a astromaster 130eq and also a bresser mikrokular webcam but I can't seem to get any object in focus except really close up, I want to do sky imaging, lunar and planetary captures, I use sharpcap aswell. How far in or out does the webcam have to go, I've tried as far in as I can and as far out including a barlow lens and collar to extend but run out of travel on my ficus tube, any help on how yours is set up with greatly help me as getting well annoyed now
  6. Hi I have an astromaster 130eq and I'm after advice of viewing with my bresser mikrokular webcam. This may seem silly but if I say want to view the moon or Jupiter or Saturn,to get the focus right would the webcam need to be further out of the 1.25 eyepiece hole or further in to gain focus as it's all very blurry and can only focus on close things like trees or a nearby roof. I'm probably not explain myself properly.its been cloudy skies here for over a week so can't get to practice with it. This is used in a prime focus method I have tried inserting the webcam in as far as possible and as far out as possible with a barlow lens but still can't achieve focus
  7. Ahh I see I thought it was the other way around being further out, I'll try my barlow lens then the webcam in that next time to see if that solves it, thank you
  8. This is used in a prime focus use and using sharpcap software, would like to use my 2x barlow to get close ups

  10. This little beauty arrived today, after many many suggestions on this forum that it's an absolute ace purchase, I deco to treat myself with some birthday money and bought this book. I've only just started reading it and engrossed already. When the cloudy skies gave gone I'll be turning left at orion and viewing some great things in the night sky and the skies are only going yo get darker as the seasons progress here in North Cornwall, bortle class 3.
  11. Thanks guys, all taken on board and shall be purchasing one and like you say will make my 10mm one that cane with the scope obsolete as its not to great.
  12. Hi Thank you it looks a great piece of software to look for ep much appreciated. Clear skies
  13. Hi thank you I realise now the marketing specs aren't all they are cracked up to be and are much lower. I think I will go for the 7.5mm ep for now then get a 25mm ep soon, as I think I just a newbie and interested in the planets and lunar activity at the moment but I guess a lot of newbies start that way, once I've exhausted my appetite for planet viewing the dso are high in my list. Yes I was reading somewhere online that Mars moves closer to earth in October so I too are hoping for clear skies then. I have the stellirium software on my laptop and star walk 2 installed on my phone and have the book turn left at orion on order for my birthday. Thank you again for your help
  14. Hi Thank you for your reply, I like the idea of the 8mm or 7.5mm as to replace the 10mm which as you say is not the best one to use and gives Jupiter a over exposed look. Where do you get the ep software that shows the fields of view as views as it looks very useful
  15. Hi I have a celestron astromaster 130eq, also a 2x barlow lens, 20mm plossl and 10mm eyepieces. What other size ep would all of you fine people suggest I purchase next. My scope has a useful magnification of x307 so would a 7.5mm ep barlowed x2 be acceptable, I'm interested in viewing planets mostly
  16. Thank you guys I was thinking in around the 6 to 7mm range, how would these work with the barlow or would they be to blurred
  17. Hi I have a celestron astromaster 130eq, also a 2x barlow lens, 20mm plossl and 10mm eyepieces. What other size ep would all of you fine people suggest I purchase next. Kind regards
  18. Hi The forum has been invaluable to me with the advice given, very friendly bunch of people here, good luck and clear skies
  19. Hi. What ep were you using to view jupiter this clear with a celestron astromaster 130eq, I have the same scope
  20. Yes I think autostackket3 is better but I think it's down to personal preference and I'm a newbie at this lark.
  21. Hi this is the full moon and Saturn taken last night from North Cornwall in UK with my astromaster 130eq, 20mm ep barlow x2 with my smartphone, edited with pipp, autostakkert and photoshop, can't wait for the moon to start waning so I can get the definition on the craters, should be Sunday and Monday night here in Cornwall
