  1. The two at the top on the rear are totally unnecessary I would complain in an instant about that. I too had a troublesome lamp post led fitted that for some reason stayed on all night all the others in my street turned off about 1am but the one right outside my house never turned off. Got in touch with highways and the cane round and sorted it also added a shield as well. Good luck with those naughty neighbours.

  2. Hi

Yes you can still make calls etc. The phone is essentially just a remote control as soon as you put in the auto plan details on what you want the AAP to do and hit go it will run throughout regardless of if the app closes or even if the phone runs out of battery.

What program did you use to make the video?

Autostakkert is a very simple program to use as it only stacks the video images, not a lot to go wrong there in my opinion, just ensure you select a good cut off point on the graph and a reasonable, say 20 points, for the “select AP Grid”.

I think it more likely that errors were made in the video program, I use FireCapture, because there are a number of settings that if not used correctly will result in images such as the one you have shown.
I’m pretty sure your camera is blameless.

    Good luck.

    Hi Moonshed

I used the ASI pro on video mode I think it was 720p and outputs an avi file. I’ll try the ZWO FB forums as looking at the three videos I have captured I see this pattern in all of them. When I view the video in just windows player I see it but not so apparent

    Thanks

You'll likely have to use some extenders, more so if you're using the Barlow. I'd try it on the moon without the Barlow to start with. With my powermate I use a diagonal and it's quite easy to setup that way.

Thanks Elp I did that in the end anD managed to find focus I think I’ll leave the Barlow out for a while! Are you able to assist with this one? Issue after issue today…

  5. So I got myself a new camera for a try at imaging lunar and planets but I can’t seem to find the focus point. I have focuser Barlow than camera. I have some M68 extensions and racked the focus all the way in and out. Am I missing something here as I think the OTA doesn’t look right? Thanks

  6. Here is a rework of Pickering Triangle I used a HOO palette but used the Oiii as the Lum layer. Image was taken on the 22/08/2022 I shot just 2 hours of Ha and 2 hours of Oiii180s subs. I think its missing RGB stars wish I had collected data for those.

Well that's looking better. It's only about 7 hours data. 144x3min I've got another 13 hours sitting on the NAS waiting in 60s and 240s subs.

So you adjusted the core before stretching?

I didn't stretch anything I literally loaded your TIF in and completed the above steps. I did a range mask on the core, but you could extract the lum then blur it or use the GAME script to create a mask and then used curves on RGB and Lum and just pulled the curve down to remove some of that brightness, but you have to be a little careful doing it this way. Looking again I think its still a little blue so probably needs another curves or histogram on the blue channel to knock a little more out.

  8. Hope you do not mind I had a quick go at this. See below and steps I just took. I think it could have done with a little more DBE but I like it!

    • SCNR removed green
    • Inverted image and repeated SCNR green
    • Range masked the core and pulled down the curve
    • Range selection again more aggressive in the core pulled down curve
    • NoiseXterminator 0.4 and 0.1
    • Histogram transformation on each colour channel to balance them out this knocked out a lot of the blue

This  is good data and the core of M31 is bright as we know is it even possible to not blow it out to an extent? Oh and I 180 flipped it as any other way I see it as upside down which is stupid as there is no up in space :)

  9. Oh my wading in here late but interesting hearing peoples thoughts on the EQ6R been saving for that and I also saw someone I follow on IG having to send it back twice perhaps I need to rethink as well! Never even considered ioptron I will take a look.

was it random, or just after a meridian flip ? mine reguarily stops imaging after a meridian flip in autorun - it does the flip, plate solves, starts guiding, and then just sits there idle even though autorun is 'running'. stopping and starting autorun makes no difference. the only thing that does is either rebooting (Arg... have to goto, re calibrqate guiiding, etc again), or to go to plan and set up a plan that does the remaining subs youo wanted for the autorun.

I've raised that one as a bug with asiair.

I assume people ARE raising bugs ? If not, please do - you can do it in the app. It look about 1 week for mine to be assigned, and it is now being looked at.

The flip was about 8pm and it stopped just after 11pm. I had gone to bed so it could have been anything, but when I woke up the camera was disconnected but the mount was still tracking. Could be anything to be honest even an issue with my camera or SD card I will keep an eye on it. I didnt realise you could report bugs from the app ill be sure to do that going forwards. Thanks

  11. I spoke too soon. Last night whilst on autorun was working as expected but then its randomly stopped at 2330 ish. Gone to check the AAP log and there is no log created for the autorun on the 8th lol. I suspect its the issue I saw the other day and mentioned above where it cant write to the card so it stops but who knows. Software updates please ZWO

  12. I feel your pain I have had nights like this worst being coming down to a mount strike and the mount still slewing against it for a couple hours. I went through a bad patch with them on the OS before the latest. Also both tHis happened it was in plan mode I don’t trust that mode anymore. I have to say though since the recent update I have only seen a few little oddities such as capture stopped unable to write to card but a reboot of the device has sorted that. Just out of interest how do you turn off the AAP do you use the app to shut down or the switch on it? It’s hard to understand these issues as everyone has different setups so what affects you won’t affect someone else I doubt. I do hope you have better luck or they push out bug fix version. If I had a permanent pier and obsy I would definitely transition to NINA.

You are shooting with a C6 hyper star - correct? Those SCT+Hyperstar/ RASA designs are in my head for some time now...... The RASA8 is in my shopping list.

I have never gone below 120 sec, the best SNR for me with the Redcat/ASI2600MC was always the 600 secs. But, I have never images with a mono before. It will be actually my first proper evening tonight.

I am trying to add the 2600mc to my armoury so will be interesting to know your thoughts on the 1600mm and how they compare. I love my mono camera even thought its the outdated 1600 :) OSC does have a place though its convenient hence why I am trying to source a 2600.
