With the roof slightly ajar. Gives good access in the middle which is difficult to nail in the shingles! I fell once as the ladder went out from under me.

But it's painful. I hand nailed over 3000 nails during this bit.

Now the roofing goes on - cedar shingles is the choice for their light weight and longevity (and lovely aroma!)

Putting cladding up in the rain isn't much fun.

I did get another mate to help out - these frames are heavy! We put the fence sides in clad already in 11mm OSB

You'll also note the neighbouring fence is now down to give me access which will become much more evident in a moment...

Construction day begins! AKA Good Friday. Blessed with lovely weather. The frames all slot into their 4x4 supports with a gentle tap of the mallet. Goes up within 2 hours.

Decided to go with a 4x2 frame set within a 4x4 structural frame at 16"OCs. All C24 timber. Good lesson in framing, the first one took me over an hour to cut and assemble but I got this down to under 30 minutes by the end!

The timber arrives. Again having to drag huge quantities of building materials through the house.
