  1. As Adreneline mentioned i did this in Photoshop using a action i got for an older version of PS. Its Called ColorComposite.atn. It is designed to add and convert the color channels into a single color image while giving you several layer controls to adjust each channel separately (Histogram, Level and Curve). Once you have it the way you like, you simply flatten the image to combine it. In this one i did the action on the RGB channels and then added the luminance layer with only a levels layer for it. I have added the action here and we will see if this attaches for you. Not sure if it will work in your version of PS as i am using CS3 still. Anyway this was the best i could do as there was a lot of noise in the image (which more shots plus dark frames would cure) and i had to reduce and cut the luminance frame down as not only was it a larger frame but the bottom right corner of the file was cut off. So i also cropped the photo on you. NGC4565.TIF ColourComposite.atn
  2. This is the infmaous "Rust" problem for these scopes. The ITF filter is not sealed and since it uses metal as the coating, this metal over time "rusts" and causes a milky appearance to occur blurring images. If you want to replace it, go here for the replacement, its the only one of two and the cheapest option by far: https://maierphotonics.com/656bandpassfilter-1.aspx
  3. Sensitivity? Definitely! the 60Da (or a full spec modded 60D) will have a broader range of frequencies that it can gather. I recently modded my 60D with a full spectrum mod and now not only does it get the higher red bands (Ha Region) but can do IR photography as well with the proper filters. I bought a 720nm lens filter so i can use it to look at things in only IR light. Here are some examples: the two B&W photos are the 720nm IR photos. The other two show a unmodded and modded (white balanced) shot. Not the red colors on the tree on the modded one. That is the IR output of the tree leaves. The sky also looks richer as it has some IR coming in from it too as well as more UV whic is closer to Blue than Red on the spectrum charts.
  4. I have the Orion v3 hand controller which is the same as the Synscan version. The GPS has a cable with an adapter that ends in a RJ-12/11 connection to plug into the HC. You need to be sure this is plugged in when you power the HC on. There are no menus to setup, detection is automatic. The HC will see the GPS device and immediately try to locate itself and find the date/time. You will have an abbreviated setup process as a result as the location and time/date are done for you. However keep the GPS antenna away from all metal as it will interfere with the GPS signal. The HC may take a minute or two to find and setup the GPS info so be patient.
