I havent used my skywatcher mount for a while but I remember it had an option in the menu to check your polarAlignment. When your polarAlignment is rough, like you mentioned, this option will help you get your alignment more accurate.
You have to look it up, google!, the name and the method.

The weird thing was that i could view the site and saw that there was activity like nothing is wrong, but once i logged in, the site showed the White screen of death.
It must have been a small group that couldnt visit SGL

Looks like a great lineup that slowely covers all needed products. Their next step will be an alternative color next to the boring red. Its sad to say but its just a matter of time before the competition goes bankrupt. When you’re really in love with that model from a competitor, buy it now before its too late.

Yes. A large Dutch company warned two weeks ago. Its too late now. The damage is done already😩

No you need an adapter to use hyperstar. Sct’s from this era didnt even know Fastar/Hyperstar would be available 10-20 years later. Its not a big deal. They still sell sct’s without fastar systems today. Its basically an easy removable secondary mirror that leaves a metal frame on your corrector plate to attach a camera with Hyperstar system.
long story short. This version isnt compatible in this state. You need this conversion set:

Is it possible to drill 2 new holes and move the secondary mirror a bit? Or make the old 4 a bit oval?

The tubes radius will probably give a problem. But not impossible. You just need to 3d print a piece or fill the gap with other material. When there is an adapter plate already present it might work without printing or filling gaps. Lets pray the mounting holes are the same 🙏🏼
edit: the 8” focuser doesnt have an adapter plate. You have to get creative.

When the 8” dob gets more use, and the oouk 6” dont satisfy you more than that Skywatcher (Plus it needs a mount), i would sell the oouk.
i had a period of having about 6 scopes standby for ‘i still dont know the reason’.
For every brand/type/model you’ll find reasons and good reviews to keep them. But whats really the point? I predict you’ll end up with the 8dob and a good 120 mm refractor and settle for a while.

I must admit I do love the red tube, it must look awesome in the flesh.
I always thought it looked great in this red color, until i saw some pics in the wild

Best thing is to detank it and use it for another rocket

I They treat is basically as a test (😉). Their excuse is, its a test and if the test goes well why not launch it during that test. The problem today, besides the crack, was a problem that could only pop up on a day like this, an almost launch.

I bought this one for my daughter. The 6” set was very well priced compared to a singlr black sct6. But the mount….that thing is….*%#}[#.
perfect for entry into astronomy but once you know how a solid mount feels, you’ll never touch that dx version again. Which is no problem because they don’t actually charge you for it
