  1. This is the single broken gear I need. No idea how to even measure one of these. I can only assume that it has the same amount of teeth as the one it sits flush with which I counted as 24.
  2. I don't have access to a 3d printer 😕 also I don't know how much I would trust the strength of 3d prints in harder materials. I know you can buy plastic gears online but it's finding the right measurements and I have no idea how to even start measuring it. All I can see is that it was a 24 tooth gear.
  3. I have found that inside my etx 90 base that one of my gears/cogs as had a few teeth broken off. I've looked on Meade's website but don't see spare parts for these. Does anyone know of a third part vendor that may have them or if I can get them from anywhere?? I fear that my mount will be for the scrap man because of one plastic cog. The photos aren't the best but I need one of these tiny gears. Cheers.
  4. Cheers for that, I may have to give that a try as a I definitely have plenty of wood going spare. I was thinking of making a new wedge that is adjustable more like a gem mount would be but that would make my wedge tripod kind of useless. So I'm still deciding on that one.
  5. As I'm having real issues with aligning my mount which is an etx 90 with the deluxe tripod. So as I want a more precise alignment I want to be able to use the one star Polaris alignment to beging the alignment process. But as my scope/mount is fixed to the tripod and my garden is grass it is almost impossible to move the tripod to get Polaris in the eyepiece as I have to lift the whole assembly up a good few inches. I've thought about using wood on the grass as a base but if I do that I won't be able to go near the scope in fear of shifting the wood which will then mess up the alignment. Has anyone got any tips or advice on moving a fork mount on grass to get Polaris in vie?? I am open to mods and what not if needs must. Cheers
  6. I'm only new to goto mounts, I've been using gem mounts with polar scopes for a few years. Admittedly they only had basic RA drives. I'm in Stoke on Trent. But not like I get much time to use it due to being under a blanket of cloud for 90% of the year. Someone said that grease could of got on the optical sensor and that could be confusing the mount.
  7. I haven't tried tbh, I only got it so I could use it to track in RA , I would have just kept my skywatcher Alt-Az if I knew it would be this much hassle getting it just to align. But I wanted to get longer exposure's without having to fork out loads for a goto gem.
  8. It is set to polar mode, also I have out in the right coordinates for my location, I have used that method and many others but none of them actually work. No matter what I do with one star alignment the scope will always hit the hard stop when sleeping in RA to locate Polaris... The mount is meant to know apparently where it is so it doesn't hit the hard stop. If I use one star or 2 star then the scope always missing the target by about a foot. Which is a hell of a lot. Al the instructions or manuals I've seen just go on and on and get lost in explaining things rather than just getting to the point. I may just have to take the scope off, seller the tripod and bin the mount as it's actually crap tbh
  9. So again I've tried to align my Meade etx 90 in polar mode with the wedge. I get everything set as outlined by Meade... RA is perfectly level. Dec is at 90° I always do this before powering on the scope.. Is this right or wrong?? I then set up, time date and all that. If I try and use one star align the scope will spin in RA and then it hits the stop and obviously the scope tries to carry on which will strip the gears soon or later. If I try one star or 2 stars the scope is always way of target. Am I missing something before I give the mount to the bin men?? I am getting super frustrated with this now. I just want it working for when I get a really clear night. Cheers.
  10. I've adapters for it on eBay which are cheap enough. Also I don't really use my laptop much when out with the scope. I kind of like just using the remote shutters. I will have to look and see on Apr if it is supported just in case I ever decide to you the laptop. Cheers
  11. Has anyone used the canon m10 mirror less for astrophotography of any other mirror less for that matter and would recommend over a traditional DSLR? I as as I'm not a serious photographer and would be mounting on my etx90 and as I've read it uses plastic gears I would like to keep as much weight off the scope as I can and my 450d weights about 600 grams where as the m10 weights 300 grams. If anyone has any thoughts that would be great. Cheers
  12. I need someone who preferably has used or managed to get good polar alignment with Thier etx mount range. I have leveled the tripod. Made sure the latitude is correct for my location. Made sure longitude and latitude are set for my location in the hand controller settings. I have pointed the mount/scope/tripod north and made sure the scope force are level. I put the scope into polar home position if I then try any of the alignment methods The scope is way out from where the mount thinks the object is to where it actually is. Am I missing an vital step?? It says on the instructions to move the wedge/mount only to get Polaris in view but my mount/wedge is fixed to the tripod so if I moved it I would have to move the whole tripod which would of course mess with it being level. 😕
  13. Forgive me if this is in the wrong place but it is to do with my mount in a sense. Anyway... I have tried to out my ext90 into polar home mode using the methods online and I believe I have everything setup. But I must be missing something as when I start say,the easy alignment it will miss the first star by alot. Then once it thinks it's done if I then proceed to say pick the Orion nebula it is always way off where it actually is. Anyone had success with this mount?? Cheers
  14. I do have the manual. I had to find the handset manual and then found out how to do it. But thanks for trying to help me out.
  15. I think I cursed the skies when I used to skateboard back in the day. Why I pick hobbies that revolve around good weather I will never know.
  16. Its fine. I've sorted it now. Well hopefully have... But we will see when it's a clear sky
  17. I think I've sorted it now, just had to go through every option in the hand controller until I found a me u to change the mount from Alt-Az to polar.
  18. I understand this, I mean there is no instructions on the internet on how to change the mounts alignment process from Alt-Az to polar or EQ mode. I will add I am not new to telescopes, only new to goto mounts. I've had plenty of normal tracking EQ mounts in the past.
  19. It is the same. But that video shows nothing about actually setting it up. I can't find anything on the internet or Meade's website with actual instructions.
  20. I have gone and got a Meade etx 90 with the deluxe fields tripod that has the latitude adjustment but I can't for the life of me find out how to switch from Alt-Az to EQ mode.. I was told that this scope can indeed track in both as the tripod is even designed for this scope. Cheers.
  21. I have been trying for a few days now to get my newt (skywatcher 114p) collimated. So far I get what looks like a perfect circle with a black circle inside when pointed at a star using back focus but if I out the same star out of focus using to much inward focus then donut center seems off. What should I adjust if to much inward focus causes the inner circle to be off center?? Hopefully my question makes sense as I have no idea how to explain this stuff.
  22. Its a skywatcher 114p I did move the mirror up the tube but have now put it back to stock and I will just have to use a Barlow when using the DSLR. No idea of putting the morrow up the tube affect the image. Someone said it looked like my scope was suffering from bad coma.
  23. I've gone the method of lining everything up by eye and my eyepiece with a hole in, seems to work better than the Lazer but I can't say for sure until I see some stars tonight.
  24. My scope only has 1.25" inch. I've tired to line it up buy eye as if I use the laser then look down the empty focuser then everything looks very wonky. Every video I've seen says you should be able to see both mirrors as a perfect circle.
  25. I'm not sure but as I moved the primary mirror up to reach focus with the DSLR that could maybe mess with the collimation but I have no idea if moving he mirror can cause collimation issues.
