"Remote utilities" is a good free program though it takes a little setting up. I think a internet controlled main switch is good if all else fails, but make sure your computer bios is configured so that it will reboot when you restore power.

On the leaderboard page in the top left (on an iPhone) there is an icon to open the menu that takes you to everything else. If you are using an iPad in landscape mode the menu should be on the left hand side already. If you have an android version, I don't know. Mike Rushton
