Skywatchers manual dated 24/04/2012 shows a slightly different cell configuration to the one in the picture. There are three extra support tabs that come in from the sides.

We have been using smokeless so I guess the ash is pre bomb testing but have put the wood burning plate in so I can do a test when we next have a fire. I will take darks close to and far away from the fire to see if there is a difference.

While looking for something else I came across this from ESA's website. I am still exploring what it can do but might be of interest

I would download it again to reinstall all the files.
I have had a quick look through my old set (I don't use SL anymore) but the files have been mucked about as parameters have been changed so I would start afresh.

Looking at the Flo picture you see your lever with the rounded cam attached? Looks like you remove this lever and use the screw to fix the motor mounting bracket.
Mine looks to be for a different mount than yours

Is there a suitable mounting point on the other side like in my picture?

Same as Olly. I stopped using dithering because the image creeps over long sessions and is never in exactly the same place from night to night.
But again like Tomato I use CMOS now.
There are many things that get repeated so often that they take on the status of fact. Does no harm to try things out and if it works and saves time all to the good. If not you can always go back a step.

The BAA reported a small increase in activity around 17:00 hours UTC on the 2nd so I would have missed it as I started my recordings at 22:00
When I have some numbers will post here

had a quick look through last nights backscatter and if anything looks to have been a quieter than usual night.
Also nothing in UKMeteor's daily report

Have been watching the Mauna Kea observatory meter cam today (snow and some occasional cloud) and there have been a few bright meteors but nothing out of the ordinary.

Its always best to work in daylight first to get to know what is needed both in software and setup. Point the scope at a tree/chimney, then play with the scope with the camera.
Did you turn on live view in Sharpcap? that would explain the black screen. Maybe once you are set up take a snapshot of the Sharpcap screen and post it here so we can see what you can see.
In daylight the exposure will have to be set to a minimum otherwise you will just get a white screen. With short exposures you will be able to wind the focus in and out and get feedback on the focus position without waiting for the image to update.

I wonder if the occupants of the ISS will be moved to the safe area in the station during this period?

Too much choice! A tongue in cheek rant.

I still cannot decide if the SeeStar is the astro equivalent of the emperors new cloths or not. The only way to find out is to buy one and find out for myself.
Some of the pictures on the web look too good given the spec of the scope.
