Just wondering if filters of any kind are commonly used for such a small scope as a 4", I am aware of how helpful filters are for AP and for visual when using dobs but I am not so sure they're used for small refractors.
In my case I guess I would benefit from an LP filter and maybe a filter which enhances nebulae, if it would help with such small aperture. Since I am not using a camera, I would guess the filters would be screw on which
fit on the diagonal.

Hopefully buying a couple more bits for my scope like the Baader diagonal I've waiting 3 months for delivery so far (convinced it doesn't exist) aside from that I plan on winning the lottery and treating
all my SGL mates to new scopes!.

Harmonic drive mounts are awesome, just very pricey until they become more popular, I have seen many videos explaining how they word in detail. Would it be safe to say they are the evolution of the telescope mount? it seems so.

Nice capture! have a great holiday season!

Now that the excitement and butterflies in the stomach feeling brought on by launch has subsided, it seems a bit surreal that this magnificent piece of engineering is finally where it belongs. Over the years I have watched every video I could find, read every scrap I could dig up online, and thought about someone coming along and scrapping the project for some reason. Now there is no turning back, no more daydreaming about launch being so far off I may never see it, someone pinch me (not too hard I bruise easy).

It seems that having acquired a mount capable of carrying two OTA’s has left me with the need to put two OTA’s on it! who would have thought? now I am in trouble, but my 4” needs a big brother. Originally I had planned on a larger refractor at some point but it doesn’t have to be, what would make a good companion to a 4” and why? something of larger aperture would be ideal, an SCT? an RC? I’m sure many of you have a dual setup combination which works. An image along with a few words on why you get on great with your dual setup would be sweet!

Watching the solar array deploy was a bit emotional I have to say, didn’t expect to see that.

It’s 7am Christmas morning here, last night I ate too much, surely too much wine too,but my alarm was set, I wasn’t going to miss this. All last night family members asked “so who’s this James Webb guy you keep talking about”

That is AWESOME!

Some may be interested in this cool breakdown of some of Webb’s systems.

I have been following progress for about 7 years now, I am so excited about the launch I have butterflies in my gut.

Great capture! I see something green near the middle, what is it? maybe some reflection or lens anomaly? when i increase the size it seems like a green line.

The Orion Nebula is a jewel of the night sky! your excitement is justified as I feel the same way even though I've seen it a million times, enjoy!
